records Book 1, page 1. The first burial
recorded by the funeral home.

Charles J. Roberts, 24 years old, died of typhoid fever, April 31, 1908, born Oct. 30, 1881.
W. R. Salyer, 44, died of gunshot wound, June 22, 1908, place of death: 7
miles north of Blacktower. (Probably meant 7 miles west, as homestead was west
of Grier. He and W. F. Jones, below, who had a homestead next to Jone, shot
each other over an argument about a fence or gate with J. W. Elliott trying to
settle the argument. Haney Tate of Ranchvale says Mr. Elliott ducked just as
both men fired their shotguns. This information came 8-14-1994.) Land deed
records show the name was spelled "Sallier".
W. F. Jones, no age given, died of gunshot wound, June 22, 1908, place of
death: 7 miles north of Blacktower.
